On January 12, 2007, a man just outside a subway station in Washington D.C. started to play the violin. Over the course of 45 minutes, he played six pieces, including pieces by Bach and Schubert. Because it was rush hour, exactly 1,097 people poured through the station, most of them on their way to work. After playing for almost an hour, he had received just under $33 in tips and no applause.
Today's thought comes from John 1:11-12 (TLB) which says, Even in his own land and among his own people, the Jews, Jesus was not accepted. Only a few would welcome and receive him. But to all who received him, he gave the right to become children of God. All they needed to do was to trust him to save them.
