Episode No. 23: Charming Disaster, Gothic Folk Storyweavers

  • Summary

  • Episode No. 23 is with Charming Disaster! They are a Brooklyn, NY based duo comprised of multi-instrumentalists Ellia Bisker and Jeff Morris. Their sound ranges from the age old traditions of Murder Ballads, to the noir sensibilities of 40's cinema, the folk of the 60's, to the gothic flavors of the 80's, to the modern day melting pot of 21st century music. Their new album Our Lady of Radium is out now wherever you get your tunes. It's a wild, beautiful, dark journey taking the listener through the fantastic journey of Marie Curie with all of the twists and turns they could find in their years of researching her life story. It's a beautiful album you need to go check out (And buy it on Bandcamp)! We get into their lives in music, the NYC scene, writing in isolation, home recording, and using a suitcase as a bass drum. I absolutely loved chatting with these two sweet souls and look forward to having them back on sometime in the future!
