THE CHAIR (S1/Ep38) — I Wanted to be What I Didn't Have
Hello Beautiful People,
I’m Your Host Dreme.
I’m a Black woman, an educator turned tech entrepreneur but still an educator. Building a platform called THE CHAIR is a Black and Brown centered tech platform dedicated to supporting people on their hair journey. You can design hairboards, connect to hair stylists, and share hair care tips all in one space for a more joyous and streamlined experience. I built THE CHAIR Podcast to highlight hair journeys. A reminder to keep creating magic. As people sit in THE CHAIR you will get more than just hair stories. You will be immersed into experiences surrounding education, entrepreneurship, and identity. I hope you enjoy listening to my stories and the stories of my guests as we sit in THE CHAIR.
THE CHAIR (S1/Ep38) — I Wanted to be What I Didn't Have
Alia and I met many years ago at an overnight camp where we shared dreams and laughter. Alia has let me into her world and is gracious enough to continue teaching me as I learn about the world of social work through her eyes. It was a pleasure to have her on the podcast to not only share words of wisdom but also diving into the phases of hair. Come listen to Alia's stories in THE CHAIR.
Her Bio:
Alia is a 28-year-old mother, daughter, student, and professional. Originally from Philadelphia, she relocated to Massachusetts, where she works to support individuals transitioning back into the community after incarceration. Currently pursuing her MSW at Bridgewater State University, Alia is dedicated to becoming a social worker. Hair has been a powerful form of self-expression for her, evolving through many phases to reflect the challenges and growth she has experienced.
