    Nov 3 2025

    Send us a text

Elizabeth Wilson & Stephanie Oswald discuss the challenges that come with condensing your lived experience into a narrative form. It’s most common to find if you’re starting to write your first memoir that you’ll begin by choosing a chronological approach to your story. There’s nothing wrong with making this decision, especially if it helps you get your words on the page, but just know you have other options

In this episode, Elizabeth leads our conversation about memoir structure with insight into four of the eight possibilities from Jennifer Selig’s book Deep Memoir and that you’d find yourself exploring if you decide to join our Memoir Master Plan Cohort when it launches again in April 2026.

You’ll want to listen in to learn about the options you have for structuring your memoir to best fit the way you want to tell your story.

  • Episode 89: Fiction Writers, What's Your Core Message?
    Oct 20 2025

    Send us a text

Stephanie Oswald and Elizabeth Wilson talk about the benefit of learning from other genres and what Stephanie Oswald has discovered for her writing while participating in the Memoir Master Plan Cohort.

You’ll have to tune in to find out about Stephanie Oswald’s recent celebrity author encounter!

What’s the common thread in your writing?

As Stephanie Oswald has been working on manifesting the future version of herself as a writer on stages and tour, she kept wondering what she’d talk about in those moments. Sure, she could talk about what her book is about, but what’s really at the heart of the stories. What’s the purpose for showing up to write everyday to get her book written. That’s what Stephanie felt was missing. As an additional writing coach supporting Elizabeth Wilson’s Memoir Master Plan Cohort, Stephanie found she could take the content from the program and apply it to her fiction writing.

Your core message is how you connect with your readers through your writing. For Stephanie Oswald, it’s the theme she’s landed on that is helping her stay focused and find purpose for showing up to the blank page each day to keep writing her novel.

A lot of life events derailed Stephanie’s process, but it’s been through her connection with the memoir writers in the Memoir Master Plan Cohort that she’s been able to bring deeper meaning to her work in fiction.

What do you want your readers to take away?

  • Episode 86: [Jared Glenn] Writers, Here's Why It's Important to Get Curious About Your Process
    Sep 29 2025

    Send us a text

This week we welcome author Jared Glenn. Jared’s second novel, Lost in the Sun, just released and he’s currently working on his third novel.

It was so much fun doing the production work on this episode that was recorded in June. Discussions around writing are timeless. You’ll find so much packed into this episode. There’s not a specific timeline for when you need to learn something or apply it to your own writing. There are opportunities all the time to find nuggets of wisdom you can apply to your own practice. Elizabeth first connected with Jared on Threads when he’d shared about having a shift in his writing process. We’re finding great connections with writers on Threads, so if you’ve been curious, we encourage you to give it a try. Since we’re always curious to learn from other writers, Elizabeth had reached out to learn more and Jared has since become an active member of our community participating in our first virtual writing retreat over 4th of July weekend and connecting us with writers.

Stephanie’s conversation with Jared offers inspiration and insight into Jared’s writing process. He's discovered how much his process changes depending on what he's working on and how the story appears to him. A recent project shifted his process from pen to paper to stream of consciousness on the computer. It’s a great reminder of how unique the writing process is to you, but also what you can learn from listening to someone else’s story. There’s always so much to learn from other writers.

Meet Jared Glenn: Jared Glenn is an author, playwright, and editor based in Long Island, New York. He has written for every medium, from screenwriting and theatre to poetry and essays. In addition to his debut love story, Left Unsaid, his work has been featured on stages around the country, including the 1619 Project Play Festival. His newsletter, The Absence of Light, focuses on the various intersections of art, creativity, and love, across all forms of media.

Finding her way to herself and where she feels she belongs after experiences in the writing rooms of the screenwriting industry. It wasn’t very glamorous, but she learned a lot about herself and it led her to build her own business to help creatives find their sense of belonging.

Through her own experiences traveling and creating a sense of place wherever she's been, she helps others build their community

Inspired by the Hero's Journey, Ananya is creating a resource for helping writers find themselves and step into their writer identity.

You grow and change with every project you write.

Writing stories connects all of us regardless of where we’re from because of common experiences we share.

    Meet Ananya:

Ananya is a Netflix-produced screenwriter, astrologer, and travel coach whose work centers on the intersection of story, soul, and self-belonging. After navigating the chaos of career pivots, cross-continental moves, and creative imposter syndrome, she now helps misfit women find their voice: both on the page and in the world. Through her platform The Belonging Way, she blends storytelling, astrology, and travel coaching to help others build a life that feels like home, no matter where they are.
