  • Embracing Positivity and Finding Purpose: Insights from Therman Trotman
    Jan 6 2025

    Send us a text

In the inaugural conversation of 2025 for the Lead with Levity podcast, hosted by Dr. Heather Walker, Therman Trotman, CEO, and lead trainer of the SharePoint Help Desk, shared his journey of finding purpose through positivity and passion. In this enlightening discussion, Therman reveals how his life experiences have shaped his mentality and led him to thrive in his own business.

    The Power of Positivity

Therman opens up about his secret to always feeling great: gratitude. He emphasizes the importance of waking up each day with a sense of thankfulness, celebrating the small victories like having the freedom to enjoy life's simple pleasures. This mindset has become the icing on the cake of his life, helping him navigate through challenges with a positive outlook. Therman acknowledges that while life presents decisions and obstacles regularly, he chooses to enjoy the journey.

    Learning from Life's Challenges

Therman's story isn't just about positivity; it's also about resilience. He shares an anecdote about a woman he met online who maintained a positive attitude despite battling breast cancer. This story prompted him to reflect on his own attitude toward others' experiences, realizing the importance of reserving judgment and instead, focusing on empathy and support.

    A Journey of Self-Discovery

Therman's life journey took a significant turn when he joined the army at 18, a decision he credits as the best of his life. It was there he was gifted the book "Rich Dad Poor Dad," which introduced him to a new way of thinking: replacing "I can't" with "How can I?" This mindset shift laid the foundation for Therman's future success, teaching him that solutions exist for nearly every problem if approached with the right mentality.

The SharePoint Help Desk: A Passion-Driven Business

Therman's passion for SharePoint was sparked when he discovered its potential for automation, which aligned perfectly with his desire to make work processes more efficient. This excitement for technology and its applications led him to start the SharePoint Help Desk, focusing on teaching others how to leverage SharePoint's capabilities. He emphasizes that his motivation stems from the joy of solving real problems and witnessing firsthand the transformation in how businesses operate.

    Cultivating Business Success through Passion

Therman advises entrepreneurs to focus on what excites them, as this energy naturally draws people in. His decision-making criteria are simple yet effective: does this make life fun, and does it reduce stress? By aligning his business with these personal values, Therman ensures that he remains passionate and driven, a lesson that high performers and aspiring business owners can learn from.

    Conclusion

Therman Trotman's journey is a testament to the power of positivity, resilience, and passion-driven success. By sharing his insights and experiences, he inspires others to embrace gratitude, pursue what excites them, and leverage technology to enhance organizational culture. As we step into 2025, let Therman's story be a reminder that life's challenges can be transformed into opportunities for growth and fulfillment.

  • 12 Superpowers That Changed My Year—and They’ll Change Yours Too
    Dec 23 2024

    Send us a text

As we find ourselves at the cusp of a new year, it's hard to believe how quickly 2024 has come to an end. Whether you're wrapping up gifts or just seeking a moment of peace during this hectic holiday season, I'm truly grateful that you're here with me today. Thank you for being a part of this journey.

A Year of Intention and Growth
Back in October 2023, I conceived a powerful idea. What if I dedicated 2024 to mastering 12 areas of focus, which I would consider my personal "superpowers"? These guiding principles would shape my life and business, transforming aspects like clarity, levity, and even traditions. And let me tell you, this year tested my resolve repeatedly.

Today, I want to take you through an overview of how this idea played out, sharing both the triumphs and the lessons I learned.

    Discovering Clarity
One of the standout superpowers this year was clarity. As an industrial-organizational psychologist, I’ve worn many hats over the years, but this year I reaffirmed my true passion—helping people find joy in their work. This focus on clarity shifted everything for me and propelled my commitment to workshops, coaching, and programs focused on career joy and direction. Remarkably, Lead with Levity earned two Brandon Hall Excellence Awards, recognizing our efforts in talent management and HR.

    Embracing Levity
Levity was another area I explored deeply, realizing it’s not just a nice-to-have but a fundamental need. Facing personal and professional challenges, I relearned how to find joy in small moments and prescribed myself laughter as a remedy for stress. It’s amazing how powerful a simple laugh can be in combating stress and encouraging resilience.

    Breaking Tradition for Growth
Breaking tradition was an unexpected theme of the year. After losing my voice for a month, my family and I decided to embrace change by living in Costa Rica for a while. This break allowed us to unplug from our routine, reminding us how simplicity aids growth. Little adventures like climbing volcanoes and road trips brought fresh excitement and deepened our appreciation for life’s experiences.

    The Wonders of Technology
This year, technological advancements in AI and virtual reality captured our imagination and educated us on responsible usage. From VR’s immersive experiences to AI's ethical challenges, these innovations remind us to leverage technology for good while maintaining mindfulness about its impacts.

Wrapping Up with Levity and Gratitude
As we conclude this year, let’s infuse our holiday gatherings with levity and gratitude. Allow yourselves moments of laughter and don’t shy away from innovation—even using tech discussions to divert heated holiday table talks! This season, let’s cherish connections, be present with loved ones, and take moments to appreciate the meaningful interactions we experience every day.

    Setting Intentions for 2025
Looking ahead to 2025, I encourage you to lean into one superpower that resonates with you. Remember, progress is often imperfect and sometimes messy, but it’s still progress. Reflect on what makes you unique and harness this to lead with joy and connection. Thank you for an incredible 2024. I’m excited for the adventures and growth awaiting us in 2025. Until then, keep leading with levity and celebrating the moments that bring us together.
