On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to recap the Panthers' 3-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings from Sunrise on Star Wars night. It was a dominant effort by the Panthers who set the tone with 20 shots in the first period, and getting clear lanes to the net as LA had a hard time preventing them from getting to the blue paint. The second line was buzzing on the evening where Mackie Samoskevich, Sam Bennett, and Matthew Tkachuk combined for 16 shots, resulting in two goals. Neither team committed a penalty in the second period nor got on the score sheet, so it was another Panthers 1-0 lead heading into the third period against the Kings. The Cats converted five seconds into a 5-on-3 (only having 9 seconds of it), which allowed them to still control play the rest of the way, and play shutdown hockey. Barkov scored his first goal of 2025 on the 2-man advantage (first since 12/30 against NYR). Sergei Bobrovsky got his first career shutout against the Kings, and the Cats as of late have been defensively sound despite the record not necessarily showing it. We give out three stars of the game, the moment where we knew the game was won, and react to the announcement of Aleksander Barkov being named the Captain for the Finnish National team ahead of the Four Nations. On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to break down the Panthers' 4-1 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights from the Fortress. The Cats on the second end of their back-to-back controlled play for the start and end of the first period, and carried it over to the second. However, VGK extended their lead to two after their second shot on goal of the period that made it hard to come back from. After some lines changes in the second period, the Panthers were able to cut it to one in the opening minutes of the third period to still make a game out of it. Vegas scored just past the midway points of the third period, and would remain in control for the remainder of the contest. Spencer Knight kept the Cats in it after two consecutive breakaway stops, but an untimely penalty with five minutes left in the frame put the game out of reach. We give our three duds, and the moment where we knew the game was lost. The Cats will now only play two games outside of the eastern time zone out of their remaining 31, with a chance to still get to the top of the Atlantic. On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Eddie Garcia(@eddieonfox) of Locked On LA Kings to break down the Panthers 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings were in control in the first period where the Panthers got into early penalty trouble, but once again, staying out of the box the rest of the game gave them an opportunity to play a tight hockey game. The Panthers prevented the Kings from getting to the dirty area in the first 40 minutes. Although the Panthers broke their four-game drought of not scoring on the power play, it was the only scoring that they got on the night against the NHL's best defensive team. LA controlled the play having 13 straight shots on goal, which ended up in two goals to completely flip the game and give the Panthers their fifth straight loss in Los Angeles. The two give their standouts on Wednesday night, the moment where they knew the game was decided, and also give the latest news of a defenseman from each team closer to making their returns to their respective lineups.
