The peace prayers consist first of all of the Mangala Charana Mantras in the narrower sense, “Sarvesham Svasti Bhavatu,” “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah,” which are two verses for well-being. Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha

Avahana mantras begin with “Om Gam Ganapataye Namah” and are invocation mantras. Avahana mantras are used to invoke certain aspects of God before doing something. “Sarva Mangala Mangalye” actually belongs to the Devi Mahatmyam; it is a mantra from the eleventh chapter of the Devi Mahatmyam, tenth verse. This eleventh chapter is also known as Narayani Stotra because it contains many mantras that end with “Narayani Namostute.” One of these, and the best known, is “Sarva Mangala Mangalye.”

It is also a Mangala Charana Mantra. Mangala means blessing, happiness, all that is auspicious. Charana also means wish. Thus, it is a mantra of blessing, a mantra of intercession, a mantra of goodwill. In yoga, everything you do is concluded with wishes for the well-being of all beings. This can be as simple as chanting “Shanti” three times. Shanti means peace, peace for everyone in this world. You can do it by chanting “Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu,” you can do it by repeating “Sarvesham Svasti Bhavatu” or “Om Sarva Mangala Mangalye.”
