  • LIVE IN TORONTO Book Launch Recording - "Everything but Money" Book Tour Presented by BMO ETFs
    Mar 6 2025

To celebrate the release of my bestselling book "Everything but Money: The Hidden Barriers Between You and Financial Freedom," I hit the road to do a cross-Canada book tour, with my first stop taking place in Toronto on Jan. 31, and yes, I recorded it so you could be right there with me! A huge thank you to my co-host and MC Melissa Leong who was absolutely incredible. Make sure to grab a copy of her book "Happy Go Money" or listen to my interview with her on episode 181. Another big thank you to BMO ETFs for supporting my book launch and sponsoring my entire book tour. Without them, this tour wouldn't be possible. And finally thank you to everyone who has bought a copy of my book, borrowed it from the library, and given it a rating or review online!

  • From the Archives: Relistening to My Grandma and Her Story Financial Resilience
    Mar 5 2025

If you liked the episode where I interviewed my maternal grandpa, then you'll love this episode where I interview my paternal grandma! Audrey Moorhouse immigrated from Scotland to Canada with her husband in her 20s when my dad was about 3 years old. She had a rough childhood to say the least being brought up in foster care, but through all of her struggles, she was able to build a beautiful life for herself in British Columbia, and show me, her granddaughter, just how resilient us Moorhouses are. This episode originally aired on May 17, 2016.

  • From the Archives: Relistening to Kristin Keffeler Discuss the Myth of Growing Up Wealthy
    Feb 26 2025

If only I grew up wealthy, like Richie Rich, then all my problems would melt away. That's what I initially thought as a child and something I explore in my book "Everything but Money," but as it turns out, more money does in fact lead to more problems. Or if not more problems, different ones. To explore this topic further, I want to re-listen to the episode I did with Kristin Keffeler, a family wealth advisor and author of The Myth of the Silver Spoon. In this episode, she shares real-life stories and data to show that growing up with money doesn't necessarily lead to a life free of financial issues and abundant with peace and happiness. After all, money doesn't solve everything.

  • From the Archives: Relistening to Dr. Daniel Crosby Share the Link Between Our Behaviour and Investing
    Feb 19 2025

What does human behaviour have to do with whether we are a good or bad investor? A lot! Which is why I was so pleased to have Dr. Daniel Crosby come on the show to share his insight on the podcast. Not only is he a behavioural finance expert, he's also written five books on the topic including The Behavioral Investor which we discuss in this episode.

  • From the Archives: Relistening to Tiffany "The Budgetnista" Aliche Share How to Get Good with Money
    Feb 12 2025

Tiffany is hands-down the Queen of Budgeting and the proof is in the numbers. Since she transitioned from teacher (with a Master's Degree in Education no less) to financial expert and educator, she has helped millions of women get good with money. No wonder her book Get Good with Money became a New York Times Bestseller and her interview with me on how to transform your financial life, no matter what kind of mistakes you've made in the past, is one of my most popular episodes to date. This episode originally aired on June 9, 2021.

  • From the Archives: Relistening to Millionaire Teacher Andrew Hallam Discuss The Joy of Balance
    Feb 5 2025

When I'm asked who my favourite personal finance author is, my answer is always the same: Andrew Hallam. His book Millionaire Teacher changed my life and the way I thought about money. But it was his second book, Balance, that cemented him as my all-time favourite. In this interview about this book, we discuss the connection between money and happiness, how to live a financially healthier life, and ultimately why balance, not money, is the goal and why we need to never lose sight of that. This episode originally aired on December 22, 2021.

  • From the Archives: Relistening to My Grandpa and His Financial Journey
    Jan 29 2025

I'm so glad I started this podcast back in 2015 because it gave me the perfect opportunity to get a recording of my maternal grandpa, Jacques Hardy, before he passed away a few years later. And it's because of this recording I was able to more accurately share his financial journey in my book "Everything but Money." To say my grandpa came from humble beginnings is an understatement. Throughout childhood, scarcity was common place, but he was able to find a way out, get married, and make sure his children never had to experience going without like he did. He's always had such an optimistic nature, I think that must helped him along the way. I feel so lucky to share his story with you. This episode originally aired on December 1, 2015.

  • From the Archives: Relistening to Cait Flanders Share Her Year of Less
    Jan 22 2025

One person I’ve always looked up to when it came to writing is my friend Cait Flanders. We’ve been friends for going on 10+ years now, getting to know each other when we were both just personal finance bloggers, but funnily enough we’ve never lived in the same city at the same time. Cait has always had such a way with words, which is why it was no surprise that her book The Year of Less is still a bestseller 7 years after it was published. It’s an incredible memoir about her upbringing, her personal and financial evolution, and of course her shopping ban story that went viral in the media. Here’s my interview with her when her book first came out which first aired on February 14, 2018.
