  • The body lay motionless on the floor of the locked study. Detective Lila Jameson surveyed the scene, her keen eyes taking in every detail. The victim, a wealthy businessman named Robert Ashton, had been stabbed multiple times. The only other person in the room was his wife, Sophia, who was found holding the bloody knife.

    As Lila questioned Sophia, the distraught woman claimed that she had discovered her husband's body and picked up the knife in a state of shock. However, something didn't add up. The study door had been locked from the inside, and there were no signs of forced entry.

    Lila examined the room more closely and noticed a strange detail: a shattered vase lay on the floor near the body, but the water and flowers it once held were nowhere to be found. She also discovered a faint trail of water droplets leading from the study to the kitchen.

    In the kitchen, Lila found a bouquet of flowers in the sink, along with a damp cloth. Suddenly, it all clicked into place.

    Lila confronted Sophia with her theory. The wife had deliberately staged the scene to make it appear as though she had stumbled upon the murder. In reality, she had killed her husband, locked the door from the inside, and then used the vase to break the window from the outside. She then re-entered the house through the window, disposed of the flowers and water in the kitchen, and called the police, pretending to have discovered the crime.

    Faced with the evidence, Sophia confessed to the murder, revealing that she had been secretly planning to leave her husband for another man and had killed him for his life insurance money.

    Another mystery solved by the brilliant Detective Lila Jameson, who once again proved that even the most seemingly perfect crime can be unraveled by a keen eye and a sharp mind.
