    Lila arrived at the scene, the old theater's marquee flickering in the night. Inside, the body of a young actress, Evelyn Moore, lay center stage, a single red rose clasped in her hand.

    Confronting George, Lila noticed his hands shaking. "I didn't mean to hurt her," he confessed. "Evelyn was like a granddaughter to me. But she found out that I've been embezzling money from the theater. She threatened to expose me. I panicked."

    George had slipped the poison into Evelyn's tea, staging the scene to frame David. With the truth revealed, Lila closed the case, her thoughts lingering on the young life cut short and the secrets that had led to tragedy.
