  • Summary

  • Episode No. 26: Hackedepicciotto, Transcendent Songsmiths
    Jul 5 2022

Episode No. 26 is with Alexander Hacke and Danielle de Picciotto! Together they are the two sides of the splendidly dark and vastly beautify Hackedepicciotto. To explain what their music sounds further like would be a disservice, so go and do up their new album The Silver Threshold. It's a truly brilliant work that can take you places that you've not known existed. Danielle is an painter, multi-instrumentalist, and director. Alexander is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, writer, and filmmaker. He is also a founding member and bassist for Einstürzende Neubauten. We talk all things music, their past works, living and working in Berlin, the difference in the European and American art market, and so much more! Y'all do it up and enjoy. Also, on a personal note I am happy to hear that Alexander is back on his feet and doing well again! You two are one of my favorite couples I've ever had the pleasure of speaking too.

And if anyone is interested in taking a look at at my art and wanna connect about that check it out on Instagram at @LighthausCreations. Yeah!

More information of my upcoming solo art show,
My first solo exhibition in Dallas, Texas will be at the Janette Kennedy Gallery from early May to June 14th. With the opening reception to be held Saturday May 14th from 5:00-9:00PM. There will be cold beverages, live guitar improvisations by my brother Cameron O'Reilly  of Little Universe, myself trying to act normal without being nervous at all, and close to three dozen works of original art all for sale. I hope everyone can make it out to see this collection titled, Transitive Nightfall. And I hope to see as many of you as possible for the for the opening night!

Thank you so much to the Janette Kennedy Gallery for having me and believing in my art enough to host me for six weeks. And thank you to everyone who’s been supportive of my art that have allowed me to get to the point where I can do this. I love you all and I cannot wait to celebrate with you in this space.

    Blurb on the show:

"In their first Dallas showcase Texas artist and native, Preston Light, displays a combination of works on canvas completed from winter 2020 through Spring of 2022. The title, Transitive Nightfall, comes from the classic song Dark Star by the Grateful Dead and is meant to be a glimpse into his creative process and influences. Usually working two to three jobs, the entirety of these pieces are made working into the night and serve as a public diary. The inspiration from each piece comes from the artist’s auditory and emotional synesthesia. Many of the pieces are titled after a song that corresponds to internal visuals that the artist sees and feels.

All pieces are meant to serve as comforting abstractions for the viewer to take solace and find a moment of peace within. There are no intentional forms or figures within them. Only the hope of restful nights and beautiful mornings."

  • Episode No. 24: Lyle Hysen, Royal Arctic Rhythm Man
    Apr 22 2022

Episode No. 24 is with Lyle Hysen! He is a founding member of The Royal Arctic Institute, a post-everything quintet out of NYC (and Hoboken, NJ). Their new album From Catnap to Coma is out every where now and they are currently playing shows out on the East Coast! We have a wonderful chat about Lyle's life and work. Falling into music and playing with Das Damen through the 80's, at one time recording a track or two with Brother Wayne Kramer, landing a spot behind the kit in Arthur Lee (of Love)'s band, and the continuing ride and ever evolving sound of The Royal Arctic Institute. This was such a great chat and I look forward to talking again soon!
