    Today we are joined by an eleven year NHL veteran and a two time Stanley Cup Championwith the Philadelphia Flyers. He spent a season as the Captain of the Washington Capitals, and finished the last 7 seasons of his NHL career with the Flames – both in Atlanta and in Calgary

    After his retirement as an active player, he went to enjoy one of the most successful broadcasting careers of any former NHL player – His knowledge of the game and ability to connect with viewers made him one of the most recognized voices in hockey. He has broadcast 21 Stanley Cup finals and 5 Olympic Games and in 2022, was recognized by the Hockey Hall of Fame as a “Media Honouree” and was awarded the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award for outstanding contributions as a hockey broadcaster.

Among all-time Oilers, he ranks 4th in Short-handed goals, 7th in games played with 701, and holds the Oiler’s team record for playing in 518 consecutive games.     This week we thrilled to be joined by Eddie 'the Eagle" Belfour..! Belfour is one the NHL's greatest goaltending legends. Despite being undrafted, he played 17 seasons in the NHL and made one of the biggest impacts of any goaltender of his time! He won the Calder Trophy as NHL 1991 rookie of the year, the Vezina Trophy as the NHL's best goalie (twice) the Stanley Cup in 1999, he played in 5NHL All Star Games, he was a member of the 2002 Canadian Olympic Gold Medal team becoming one of only two players to have won an NCAA championship, a Stanley Cup and an Olympic Gold Medal. And finally, after all of those accomplishments, he was elected into the Hockey Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility in 2011

    This is one of our craziest interviews yet - Lyle Odelein, a 16 year NHL veteran and Stanley Cup Champion with the 1993 Montreal Canadians joins us this week!! Lyle is the current Canadians record holder for most assists in a single game by a defenceman – 5 (co-holds the record with Doug Harvey & Sheldon Souray). In addition to his 7 years with the Habs, he also played 4 years with the New Jersey Devils, in 2000-01 became the very first team captain of the expansion Columbus Blue Jackets. Here is where the crazy part comes in - in 2018, Lyle nearly lost his life, spending 60 days in a coma, became paralyzed and went through a heart valve transplant as well as kidney & liver transplants – all in the same day - to save his life!! Lyle has made a full recovery and joins us here today - so happy to be joined by Lyle Odelein!!

    Very excited to welcome "Mr. Game 7", Justin Williams! Justin is a 3 time Stanley Cup Champion who played 19 seasons in the NHL for the Philadelphia Flyers, Carolina Hurricanes, Los Angeles Kings and the Washington Capitals. Williams was a first round draft pick, 28th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. In 2014 Justin won the Conn Smyth Trophy as playoff MVP while winning his 3rd Stanley Cup as a member of the Los Angeles Kings. He earned his “Mr. Game 7” nickname while playing in 9 ‘Game 7’ playoff games, with his team winning 8 of them and setting the NHL record for most career points in a Game 7 with 15, acquired in just 9 games!! So pleased to welcome JUSTIN WILLIAMS..!!

  • S3E12: Overtime Podcast: Season 3 - Ep 12 - Vincent Damphousse

    Vincent Damphousse played 18 seasons in the NHL after being selected 6th overall in the first round of the 1986 NHL Entry Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs - the first French-Canadian ever to be selected by the Leafs in the first round! He was a steady offensive player for the Leafs for 5 years until being traded to the Edmonton Oilers for a single season, then to his hometown Montreal Canadians. With the Habs, his career climbed by leading the Montreal Canadians in scoring when they won their last Stanley Cup in 1993 defeating Wayne Gretzky and LA Kings in 5 games- it was the last time a Canadian NHL has won the Cup! He eventually became the Canadians Captain before finishing his career with the San Jose Sharks. Dampousse played in over 1300 games and scored over 1200 points - certainly Hall of Fame numbers & achievements, but has not received the call yet..!

    Thrilled to have Gary Roberts join us this week! A 21 year NHL veteran with the Flames, Hurricanes, Leafs, Florida , Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay Lightening. He was a first round selection of the Calgary Flames in the 1984 NHL entry draft and became a Stanley Cup Champion with the Flames in 1989. Roberts was forced into retirement with a chronic, debilitating neck injury, but after a year and half away from the game, came out of retirement in 1997 and played for 11 more seasons. Roberts became known throughout his career as being the best shape of ANY player in the NHL and is now regarded as one of the best off-ice trainers to many of the current star players in the National Hockey League.
