I'm Still Here is set in Brazil under the 1970s dictatorship, where a wife must find out what happened to her husband while maintaining a healthy family life. I don't want to reveal more details because hearing us discover what's happening and what the movie is truly about is shocking.

Conclave shines a light on the process of choosing a new Pope. Just like Oscar voting, it's a mysterious and grueling process full of politicking, even in the house of God. We follow Lawrence (Ralph Fiennes) as he tries to run the whole process and keep the entire catholic church from going down a path of bigotry and cruelty. Directed by Edward Berger who did All Quiet on the Western Front, the boys watch and find out if the movie is all it's cracked up to be.

It's Oscar season baby!! We recorded this before we knew the nominations, but we can bet this movie will be there. For some reason. This is a weird one. Neither of us knew exactly what it was and we were both shocked when we figured out exactly what this movie was. If you never heard of it, do yourself a favor and listen to our podcast. Somehow, Emilia Pérez finds a way to offend almost everyone to some degree.

This was recorded before the director said "Spanish is the language of underdeveloped countries, the poor and the migrants." and before the awful tweets of lead actress Karla Sofia Gascon's tweets surfaced.

John Hughes has been hit or miss for us on this podcast, but we're watching another one of his classic movies, Uncle Buck! John Candy stars in the titular role and is here to cause a reasonable amount of havoc. He means well, but darn if he isn't so destructive, loud, and basically a cartoon character. He and his niece butt heads a lot, but who can blame any high schooler for being annoyed by their uncle and his noxious, back-firing car.

Demolition Man is a classic movie that we've somehow missed. Surprisingly, none of the many explosions in this movie were triggered by the famous Taco Bell featured in the film. Stallone and Snipes face off in the future, where "crime" has been eradicated and peace prospers. But at what cost if you can't have salt!?

Is Space Truckers a cheesy space romp with awful special effects and cornball dialogue? Roger that. Dennis Hopper stars in a movie about a space trucker who has to take a mysterious shipment to Earth but gets captured by pirates! Shenanigans ensue, including square pigs, scrotums on robots, and wang pulses. It's a riot!

In the new year, it's time to think about money. You know who has a lot of money? Grandmas. They are always giving away all that free candy, so they must be loaded!!! This is a little movie Ethan has been wanting to watch for a while now, but it's also one of the first movies from Thailand that either of the hosts has seen. It's a tear-jerker, though. So grab your box of tissues and get ready to listen to the boys grapple with in-family politics.

Happy New Year! (Sorry for the audio). 200 Cigarettes is a movie made in the late 90s about the early 80s and it doesn't even really feel like the 80s. Maybe that's Stranger Things poisoning our mind about the 80s, but this movie is just a slog of a film. It was the original Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, or New Year's Eve. It is a big ensemble cast that vaguely bumps into each other. Except for this time, almost none of them are likable and they all have the same horny problems.
