Uncle Kracker, born Matthew Shafer on June 6, 1974, in Mount Clemens, Michigan, is an American singer, songwriter, and musician who has made a significant mark on the music scene with his unique blend of rock, country, and hip-hop. Initially gaining fame as a DJ for Kid Rock, Uncle Kracker eventually launched a successful solo career that has spanned over two decades, characterized by a distinctive sound and a series of hit songs.

Uncle Kracker's musical journey began in his teens when he met Kid Rock at a nightclub in Michigan. The two quickly developed a close friendship and musical partnership, with Kracker becoming Kid Rock’s DJ and contributing to several of his albums. This collaboration provided Kracker with a platform to hone his skills and build a fanbase, setting the stage for his solo endeavors.

In 2000, Uncle Kracker released his debut solo album, Double Wide, which was produced by Kid Rock. The album featured the hit single "Follow Me," a catchy, laid-back tune that topped various charts and established Kracker as a solo artist. "Follow Me" showcased his knack for blending genres, combining elements of pop, rock, and country in a way that appealed to a broad audience. The success of Double Wide propelled Kracker into the spotlight and paved the way for his subsequent albums.

Kracker’s second album, No Stranger to Shame, was released in 2002 and included another major hit, "Drift Away," a cover of Dobie Gray’s classic song. Kracker’s version, featuring Gray, became immensely popular, reaching the top of the adult contemporary charts and further cementing his place in the music industry. The album also included tracks like "In a Little While" and "Memphis Soul Song," which showcased his versatility and continued his trend of blending various musical styles.

Over the years, Uncle Kracker has released several more albums, including Seventy Two and Sunny (2004), Happy Hour (2009), and Midnight Special (2012). Each of these projects has reflected his growth
