After viewing the summer solstice at sunset from Oregon's Larch Mountain in the mid-1990s, amateur sleuths John and Sara Todd are run off the road while navigating the scenic highway. The driver, barreling down a long gravel driveway from an abandoned sawmill, doesn't stop. As John and Sara track down the person who wrecked their car, they stumble into a case of illegal waste dumping and a desperate business owner.
