Behind the Shine is a nonfiction book that I wrote in seven days and nights, and it tells of the many trials and tribulations I personally endured in my life journey that were designed to hold me captive or in self-pity, such as being raped as a two-year-old child, abandonment, disenfranchisement from my family, being orphaned at a tender age, surviving war, molestation, and being a homeless person who once lived on verandas of a welding place called Tinsmith, as well as churches and bus park verandas. I refused to live in self-pity. I rose up and decided to move forward.
