You are a youth pastor or youth worker, and someone dies. It could be the grandparent, or parent of a youth in your ministry. Mayhem is sadly part of life. Whether it is Pearl Harbor or 911 acts of terror, or a terror causing accident in the home, in a car, or plane the potential for mayhem is ever present. You often hear, "Happy Holidays", or "Merry Christmas", although many feel anything but happy or merry at this season - or at any season - due to loss in their lives. The Christmas or holiday season, when people gather with friends and family, accentuates the losses we feel. This is due to the absence or the longing to be with those who are not with us at this season. Whether it is a death, a divorce, a loss of a job, or a move that separates us from those we miss and love, the holidays can be joyous on the outside but agony inside. Some can pretend, while others just cannot.
