It’s amazing how much time and energy people waste stressing over money, reacting to financial setbacks as if money is life itself. What’s the point of playing the money game? Is it to amass a fortune? Of course not. You’re going to lose it all when you die anyway. The point is to enjoy the experience, have fun, and grow from it. The money game isn’t your enemy. It’s your teacher.

What part of your life always seems to be on the back burner? Is it a certain relationship? A hobby you’ve always wanted to enjoy? A spiritual pursuit? Do you tell yourself that someday this part of your life will move to the front burner and become a priority? How will that actually happen? Back burner items tend to remain on the back burner indefinitely. They rarely make it to the front burner on their own.

I'll share the specific process I use to write articles, from initial concept to final publication, including the step-by-step details. I don't write the way I was taught in school, nor do I write like many people would expect. I can’t guarantee that my approach will work for you, but there’s no doubt that it works well for me. Obviously I write a lot, and I like to think I've gotten pretty good at it.

On the surface it seems intelligent to assess your risks before embarking on a new venture. Unfortunately the way I’ve seen most people do this is rather silly.

Many people identify with their minds, treating their minds as synonymous with themselves. This is problematic when it comes to personal growth because it encourages us to wrap our egos into our mental functioning. When our minds behave poorly, we’ll tend to defend our mistakes instead of diagnosing and solving problems in our thinking.

"I really love cuddling, but I have a hard time inviting guys to cuddle with me because they might think I’m inviting them to have sex with me, and sometimes I just want to cuddle. How can I ask for cuddling and not have a guy think I’m offering something sexual?" Believe it or not, this can be an issue for men too. Let’s ponder this situation from some different perspectives since the same issue can have multiple causes.

Self-discipline is the ability to get yourself to take action regardless of your emotional state. Imagine what you could accomplish if you could simply get yourself to follow through on your best intentions no matter what.

Virtually every time management system teaches that you must prioritize your projects to make sure you're working on what's truly important instead of getting caught up in minor things. However, few systems explain precisely how to do this.

Many people fail with 30-day challenges, usually not making it past the first week. And the #1 reason for failure is that they didn't make a crystal clear commitment to do a specific activity for all 30 days. Giving your mind a clear enough commitment is a key to success with 30-day challenges.

You become an achiever by achieving your goals. If you achieve your goals, you're an achiever. If you don't achieve your goals, you're not an achiever. This is a simple, binary way to think about achievement. To achieve means to reach, attain, or accomplish. What you choose to reach, attain, or accomplish is up to you.

Sometimes people dive into new projects because they really want to make some money or to "get something going". They put pressure on themselves to start a project mainly for the sake of trying to create some forward momentum. While forward momentum can be a beautiful thing, I would actually recommend against this approach. Usually when I see people try to motivate themselves like this, their projects fizzle out.

If you aren't satisfied with your life today, yet you continue the same habits that got you here, you’ll still be dissatisfied next year, possibly even more so. Many habits may feel quite satisfying in the moment, but they have no long-term positive impact. They are temporary pleasures or escapes but nothing more. These habits tend to self-perpetuate automatically, but as you become more conscious and rational, you’ll discover the importance of replacing these short-sighted habits with better ones.

Neurological imbalances can show up as psychological, behavioral, and motivational problems. If we try to treat these problems at the psychological or behavioral levels, however, we can’t effectively cure them because the problems have physical causes, such as a buildup of toxicity in the brain.

Perhaps the most important step in quitting the habit of complaining is to disconnect the undesirable behavior from your identity. A common mistake chronic complainers make is to self-identify with the negative thoughts running through their minds.

Many people have a hard time accepting the responsibility of being in control, so they yield this control to someone else. But no matter what, time is passing. You have the same number of days this month that anyone else has... You Have More Control Than You Think. Are you willing to take it?

The typical American office worker only does about 90 minutes of real work per workday. The rest of each workday is largely spent on distractions like reading the news, web surfing, socializing with coworkers, snacking, taking coffee breaks, shuffling papers around, processing irrelevant emails, needless delay tactics, playing games, and daydreaming. Moreover, American office workers are among the world’s most productive. In many other countries, even less work gets done each day. This stat hasn't changed much in decades.

One of the most important relationship lessons I learned was this: The relationships we have with other people are projections of the relationships we have within ourselves.

We are what we make ourselves to be. From one perspective we’re all separate individuals. From another perspective we can see ourselves as a unified whole. Imagine a gigantic sheet of aluminum foil with billions of tiny indentations in it, like protruding fingers. As individuals we’re the dents. Collectively we’re the foil. You can choose to adopt either perspective, or switch back and forth. As an individual your power is limited. You’re just a dent in a sea of other dents. But you have an interesting perspective on the whole sheet. No other dent sees the same picture you do.
