After Bud's Tavern burnt down in 2005, I walked by there right after it happened and took a quick peek inside. Whereas most folks who hadn't been a regular patron - that is, would have seen nothing more than a charred, burnt-out mess that needed demolished as soon as possible - I, myself, without even closing my eyes, saw something totally different.

They preferred small, out-of-the-way truck stops. Easy pickings. Mostly near-retirement-age truck drivers and lonely waitresses needing a lift home, or tourists just passing through on their way to much greener pastures...Hitchhiking can be a very dangerous habit. Especially when there are serial killers on the loose...

The full moon rose up over the lake, its beams shining on the rippling waters and making them shine like hundreds of tiny little diamonds. Back in the shadows of the wood, beyond the tree line, a thousand tiny little eyes shined like liquid pools of blood in the moon's light show, resembling a thousand tiny Christmas tree ornaments.

Alas...the good old days are gone. But not in our hearts - or our memories. That's the amazing thing about the human brain; it has this neat little “memory palace”, where can store all of our most favorite memories - and the palace has this neat little lock on the door that only WE can open. And inside that palace...oh, what memories!

The crazy lady wanders and wanders and wanders, and without ever really going anywhere. There's really nowhere to go. Except forward - and away from her past. Her past is a hard thing to escape, too. Since becoming one of the vultures, her whole life has felt like just one small piece of a universal puzzle. So far, for the crazy lady, the other pieces of the puzzle have failed to fall into place. So she wanders. As she wanders, so does her mind.

I walk through the door of my cabin to see Kyra is already there, waiting for me anxiously, some soft music playing on my ancient stereo. We begin slowly dancing, her long white gown blowing in the breeze coming through the windows. Suddenly, she disappears like a ghost - imagine that - and I look out to see two young boys lurking around outside, peeking at my windows, hoping to get a look at the crazy guy who lives there - the guy who plays with dead kids and dances with ghosts.

Only time will tell, because the ghost of his dead father now seems to be haunting the local woods nearby, and his son may be the only one who can end his reign of terror before it's too late.

I believe, at times, a lot of people don't realize just how much pets can improve their lives. Pets make us laugh, make us feel better when we are sick or depressed. They make sure you are never lonely. They can even lower your stress levels, resulting in a lower risk of strokes, heart attacks, and other health problems. Having pets in the house also teaches your kids about responsibility, and gives them a forever friend that makes them feel safe and secure while their parents are at work.

The following story is my take on the old Invasion of the Body Snatchers tale. Although changes have been made to the plot, hopefully it will do the original story justice.

We need to fight for our rights as American citizens now more than ever, against outside invaders, the Democratic party, and incorporate God and Jesus Christ back into our society post-haste - before all of the money hungry power mongers destroy our country as we know it - from the inside. And please, don't forget to pray for our president. He needs our support more than ever right now - and we need him, too.
