Dorothy is carried by a raging storm to the Land of Ev, where she meets some of her old friends from Oz. She also joins forces with Bellina the hen, Tiktok the mechanical man, the Wheelers, and Princess Langwidere to match wits with the Nome King and free the royal family of Ev.

Cap’n Bill, a little girl named Trot, and Button-Bright are marooned in Jinxland, a mountainous region adjacent to Oz but separated by a bottomless chasm. While there, they get embroiled in a political rivalry between good King Kynd and the notorious usurper Krewl. When the Scarecrow gets wind of the trouble via Glinda’s Great Book of Records (a kind of precursor to the internet), he joins the fight between good and evil.

Along with Jack Pumpkinhead and the Saw-Horse, young Tip escapes from the wicked witch Mombi. They join forces with the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman and Glinda the Good to recapture the Emerald City from General Ginjur.

The architect of The Wizard of Oz delves into the mythological beginnings of the jolly old elf himself. Baum created a mythological world in which the magical forest of Burzee, created at the beginning of time, is the main source of all otherworldly magical power. Ak, the Master Woodsman ruled the forests; Kern, the Master Husbandman of the World, ruled the food crops; Bo, the Master Mariner of the World, ruled the seas. All other immortals are subject to these three.

Ozma of Oz is the third oz book. Professor Wogglebug gets the characters of Oz thinking about their genealogy and where they came from because he wants to write The Royal Book of Oz recording all this information. This topic especially upsets the Scarecrow, as he knows that he was discovered by Dorothy hanging from a beanpole in a cornfield and he thinks that this mean he can't possibly have a family history. Woggleburg agrees and hurts Scarecrow's feelings by noting that because of Dorothy's discovery, Scarecrow has no family tree and should get the slightest mention in their Royal Book of Oz.

Dorothy Gale and her Uncle Henry and Aunt Em are coming to live in Oz permanently. Dorothy then takes them on a tour of Oz, and during their journey, they encounter King Kleaver with his Spoon Brigade and Miss Cuttenclip of the land of paper dolls. Meanwhile, the wicked Nome King has joined forces with the horrible Growleywogs, the terrifying Whimsies, and the wicked Phanfasms in a plot to capture the Emerald City.

An earthquake sends Dorothy and her California friends, Zeb, Jim, and Eureka, tumbling down a crack and deep beneath the earth. There she runs into her old friend, the wizard of Oz. Together with the wizard and his troupe of piglets, Dorothy and friends travel through many fantastical lands, such as the Valley of Voe, where fruit has turned the entire population invisible.

Further along their journey, they run into Button-Bright, the little boy from The Road to Oz, who has seemingly lost his way once again. The group learns of the unjust behavior of King Krewl, who has cut off Jinxland from the rest of Oz, and how the rightful king's daughter, Gloria, is being forced to marry old Googly-Goo, despite her being in love with Pon, the gardener's son.

Dorothy and her new friend explore their surroundings and meet a mechanical man named Tik Tok who joins their adventure. Back in Oz, Princess Ozma is on a mission to demand the release of the royal family of Ev from the evil Nome King. She meets up with Dorothy and the group must band together to solve the riddles of the King and restore order to the land.
