It takes a special breed of man to survive in the wilds of the American frontier. A man like Nate King has the courage, the strength and the skills he needs to endure the hardships of the magnificent Rockies. Trapper's treasure! The high point of any trapper's year was the summer rendezvous, the annual gathering where mountain men from all over the frontier met to trade the pelts they had risked their lives for. But for Kit Carson, the real danger lay in getting to the rendezvous. He was leading a party of trappers, all of them weighed down with a year's worth of furs. That was enough to make them a tempting target for any killer on the trail - especially when the trail led through Blackfoot territory.

Boston Jacks arrived in Hardship, Arizona on the evening stage just in time to witness an angry mob of people in front of the jail calling for the release of Cain Spooner, who just happened to be an old friend. Boston intervened and won his release from jail with nothing but a deck of cards.
