Everyone is in a panic--a dragon has been discovered in a cave near the town! The people call for that famous dragon-slaying knight, Saint George, to defeat the monstrous beast. But when one smart little boy actually meets the dragon, he finds a harmless, friendly creature who would much rather write poems than burn villages.

S příchodem jara se Krtek chce věnovat jarnímu úklidu, ale už po chvíli ho smýčení nebaví a vyrazí do světa za dobrodružstvím. Potká Vodní Krysu a spolu zažijí nejednu veselou historku, které vyplňují hlavní dějovou linku knihy o polepšení namyšleného, hloupého a egocentrického Žabáka. Ten porušuje jak morálku, tak zákon a nemá nikde stání. Z nudy vymýšlí každou chvíli nějaká rozptýlení, která ho ale stejně brzo přestávají bavit.
