Der Billiardär Elton Musketier hat es geschafft, einen Exoplaneten in die habitable Zone seines Sterns zu verschieben. Auf dessen Oberfläche bietet er nun zahlenden Gästen an, ihre Wut auszutoben. Leider kam es dabei zu merkwürdigen Zwischenfällen, die Sherlock Holmes und Dr. Watson aufklären sollen.

Roboter Elmer muss zum 100.000-Kilometer-Service. Da die Crew der Ultimo-1 beschäftigt ist, werden Sherlock Holmes & Dr. Watson beauftragt, ihn in die Service-Station im Meer auf einem Wasserplanet zu begleiten. Dabei stoßen sie auf einen ermordeten Kybernetiker.

His Last Bow: The War Service of Sherlock Holmes, later titled His Last Bow: An Epilogue of Sherlock Holmes, is one of 56 short stories about Sherlock Holmes written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Was hat es mit dem Tod von Artus Brumby auf sich, der seiner Meinung nach im direkten Zusammenhang steht? Bald darauf muss Holmes auch noch feststellen, dass nun auch Watson wie vom Erdboden verschluckt zu sein scheint. Als Holmes wenige Zeit später noch eine Entdeckung macht, ist es um seine Contenance geschehen.

Am nächsten Morgen werden Holmes und Watson von Inspektor Green, Leitender Inspektor im Fall Berry Chadburn, zu einem weiteren Tatort gebeten. Bei dem Toten handelt es sich nämlich ebenfalls um ein Strangulierungsopfer. Für die Polizei scheint schnell klar zu sein, dass es zwischen den beiden Toten keine Verbindung gibt, doch Holmes Fund lässt ihn etwas anderes vermuten...

Dr. Watson wird unerwarteter Weise von seiner Cousine Aethel Gastrell um Hilfe gebeten. Kurzerhand reist er zu ihr nach Sheffield, natürlich nicht ohne Sherlock Holmes Begleitung zu erbitten. Schnell stellt sich heraus, dass Aethels Mann Godric bereits seit sechs Tagen wie vom Erdboden verschluckt zu sein scheint. Holmes und Watson nehmen die Ermittlungen auf und landen noch am selben Tag in Godrics Lieblingskneipe bei seinem besten Freund Berry. Doch dieser ist am nächsten Tage tot.

Als Holmes und Watson schließlich von Barbara Chadburn die Lebensgeschichte der Gastrells erfahren, ist für Holmes sofort klar, wer für die Morde verantwortlich ist. Jetzt gilt es nur noch, so schnell wie möglich Godric Gastrell zu finden und ihn besten Falls lebendig zu retten. Doch leider hat da noch jemand ein Wörtchen mit zu reden.

Auf Ersuchen des britischen Premierministers übernimmt Sherlock Holmes den Fall eines vermissten Studenten. Die Angelegenheit erhält politische und internationale Brisanz, da es sich bei der verschwundenen Person um ein Mitglied des hawaiianischen Königshauses handelt.

Sherlock Holmes und Dr. Watson ermitteln in einem ebenso bemerkenswerten wie merkwürdigen Mordfall. Der Täter scheint überführt und befindet sich in Polizeigewahrsam, doch er gibt an, das Verbrechen gegen seinen Willen unter Hypnose ausgeführt zu haben.

Ein Inspektor weilt an Bord der Ultimo-1, da er Daflon, der ein Freund von Sherlock Holmes geworden ist, eines gefährlichen Experiments verdächtigt. Bei einem Ausflug auf einen Exoplaneten geschieht noch dazu ein Mord. Holmes und Dr. Watson machen sich bei der Lösung nützlich, während der Inspektor weiter hinter Daflon her ist.

Auf einem Exoplaneten wurden Ruinen einer modernen Zivilisation gefunden. Jene hat auch rätselhafte Zeichen hinterlassen. Ein Forscherteam sollte sie entschlüsseln, doch es scheiterte bisher. Daher wurde Sherlock Holmes beauftragt, sich als Dekodierer zu betätigen. Da geschieht ein Mord!

Auf einem neu besiedelten Planeten, 137 Lichtjahre von der Erde entfernt, wird eine medizinische Lieferung benötigt. Die Siedler zeigen sich gegenüber den Überbringern jedoch nicht sehr dankbar. Da deckt Sherlock Holmes eine Verschwörung auf.
