People are usually very happy, if their prejudices are met with agreement and their expections fulfilled. When you find Osho, a different approach to life is uncovered, as he speaks on something we have always been looking for—a way to be alive. His vision of becoming alive is expressed in this series THE REBELLIOUS SPIRIT. This series continues with these next ten talks in Part 2. Osho lays out his vision of a balance between the primary need for personal transformation, as the foundation and at the same time, not ignoring contemporary political and social issues.

Responding to a question about why there are not many women comediennes or jokes which do not have a male chauvinistic ring to them, Osho dives into the context and history of women in societies and the sense of humor coming into existence at a late stage of evolution. No animal other than humans have a sense of humor. The sense of humor can be called the criterion whether evolution has become conscious or not.

On finding the “original man” within yourself, says Osho, you will find everything worth discovering. In these talks, Osho traces Zen from its early days with Bodhidharma in China through a succession of masters and poets. He tells anecdotes about the Zen masters, showing how their seemingly absurd statements and actions are actually devices to jolt people out of their spiritual sleep. Most people know of hypnosis from entertainment; often in a negative context of being "hypnotized" to do things they would not do on their own. Lately hypnosis is being used in therapy with a much more positive connotation. "Time is that in which we live - it is horizontal. It is from A to B to C to D; it is in a line. Eternity is vertical. It is not from A to B and from B to C. It is from A to more A to still more A. Wisdom, says Buddha, arises from within, and is the only true knowledge. In The Dhammapada Osho speaks on wisdom, which he calls knowing, and on the difference between knowing and knowledge. Knowing, he says, is spontaneous response: it comes from inner silence, it is our own truth, an existential experience. Knowledge is dependent on the past, it is mechanical, it is second-hand, it comes from another, and hides the truth from ourselves. Knowing gives us inner direction; knowledge only outer direction. And the key to the intuitive faculty of knowing is meditation.

Every child is born ecstatic - with a high level of happiness. Ecstasy is natural. It is something that everybody brings naturally into the world; everybody comes with it. It is part of being alive. Life is ecstasy. Every child brings it into the world, but then society jumps on the child, starts destroying every possibility of ecstasy, starts making the child miserable, starts conditioning the child, and the child comes to know that to be miserable is right, to be happy is wrong. That becomes the deep association.

While in the world of literature and film, mad scientists create monsters like "Frankenstein” and almost all religions are promoting skepticism towards science and the fear of manipulating human beings, reality has bypassed such concerns long ago. Osho has a unique view – supporting science, specifically genetic science – but as a conscious science.

In this talk Osho takes his audience into the world of Zen. "There are a few essential things which make Zen absolutely different from any kind of teaching. The most important of these essentials is that Zen is a revolution. All other religions are servants to the vested interests. The rich people and the powerful people, the politicians, have dominated all the religions. The priests have been nothing but servants to these criminals. It is such a worldwide conspiracy that no one recognizes it."
