"Once upon a time, there were twenty-five tin soldiers who were all brothers, as they were all born from an old tin spoon. So the two are married because only a real princess would be sensitive enough to feel a pea through so much bedding.

In The Little Match Girl, a barefoot girl tries unsuccessfully to make money for her family by selling matches on the street. Afraid to go home empty-handed and face her father’s wrath, she decides to take shelter in an alley for the night and lights matches to keep herself warm. The harsh realism of this story reminds listeners to be grateful and kind during the cold holiday season.

Here's a marvellous tale by the famous Hans Christian Andersen, about a young woman whose royal identity is determined by a pea hidden under a stack of mattresses, voiced by the wonderful Emma Forbes. Emma Forbes began her TV career in 1993 as a children's presenter on the BBC show Live & Kicking,/i>. She went on to host What's My Line? and voice Mummy Hippo in the hit children's animated series Peppa Pig before moving to radio.
