Il successo divenne tale che le avventure di Tarzan si snodarono per ben ventotto libri, tradotto in più di cinquanta linque, e il personaggio divenne fonte di ispirazione di almeno trenta film, telefilm e cartoni animati. Questo primo romanzo del "Ciclo di Venere", del 1934, opera meno famosa dell'autore di Tarzan si inserisce nel filone della costruzione di un mondo utopico/distopico, filone iniziato da H. G.
