Don’t go in the water. It’s dark. It’s deep. It’s scary as hell. There is no better keeper of secrets than the menacing, murky depths of the ocean. Unfathomable creatures, mysterious disappearances, abandoned ships, deadly pirates. Even experienced seamen are susceptible to the horrors that lay hidden far below the surface. She and Calvin are forced to hole up in a struggling campground, and when Gertrude finds the body of the campground owner, she is certain the man has been murdered.

Some of these quirky true stories might surprise even the most proud Texan. Austin sat the first all-woman state supreme court in the nation in 1925. A utopian colony thrived in Kristenstad during the Great Depression. Bats taken from the Bracken and Ney Caves and Devil's Sinkhole were developed as a secret weapon that vied with the Manhattan Project to shorten World War II. In Slaton in 1922, German priest Joseph M. Keller was kidnapped, tarred, and feathered amid anti-German fervor following World War I.

William Johnson is the most famous man in the world. A veteran hero of the alien war, whose personal sacrifice saved the human race from extinction. Following the war his inventive talents blossomed, and he became the most prolific and versatile inventor since Leonardo Da Vinci. He was knighted by the King of England as "The Hero of the World". For years, William Johnson has planned the punishment of government for that attempt.
