The Unity League has decided to send a peace mission into Ragger space. A single shuttle named Colorado carries the hopes of billions. Captain Jake Griffin is tasked with following the Colorado in a heavily armed assault craft to watch for signs of treachery. When betrayal comes, Griffin delivers retribution in the form of a nuclear warhead, which wipes out much of a primary Ragger facility and almost wrecks his spaceship. He ends up trapped in a place far beneath the ground.

First, though, he needs to find out what happened to his father, and he also has to make a difficult decision about his ailing mother.

Humanity has made peace with the Fangrin aliens and now it turns out the dogs were never the real threat. Now, the Raggers have come. An unprovoked Ragger incendiary attack on the human city of Satra kills millions. Not everyone dies. Lieutenant Tanner Conway and a few of his squad survive the flames, as does Captain Jake Griffin, his spaceship Star Burner brought down by enemy fire. The survivors want payback, but it’s hard to beat an alien attack fleet when you’re stuck in the middle of a burning city.
