Now Heather shares the story behind her inspirational writing journey and the defining experiences of her life, including her profound friendship with Lale, and explores how she learned to really listen to the stories people told her—skills she believes we can all learn.

Joining us at Audible Studios is Heather Morris, an author whose debut novel, The Tattooist of Auschwitz, was a huge success. Morris grew up in New Zealand and has split her adult life between there and Australia. Morris worked in the Social Work Department at Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne from 1995-2017. During this time, Morris decided to pursue her love of storytelling and enrolled in a professional scriptwriting course. In 2003, her life and career path changed. She was introduced to Lale Sokolov, upon whose story she based The Tattooist of Auschwitz.

Joining us in the Audible Studios to talk about her book The Tattooist of Auschwitz is Australian writer Heather Morris. Whilst working as a social work administrator, Heather Morris studied and wrote screenplays. After meeting an elderly man called Lale Sokolov, Heather used his story as inspiration for a screenplay, which has now been published as a novel, The Tattooist of Auschwitz. Heather Morris talks to us about her book, the man who inspired it and what we can expect from her next.
