Charles Fillmore was an American mystic known for his contributions to metaphysical interpretations of Biblical scripture. With the help of his wife, he founded Unity, a church within the New Thought movement. Prosperity is considered one of the top New Thought books of all time. In it, Fillmore shows how the lessons of Scripture hold the keys to prosperity.

Richard Henry Dana called this book a "a voice from the sea". It had an influence on both Joseph Conrad and Herman Melville, both of whom sang its praises. Dana was a law student at Harvard College who decided, in 1834, to take a break from his studies in order to experience the "real world" by signing on as a common sailor for a two year voyage from Boston around Cape Horn to California. He kept a journal which he turned into a book after the voyage.

Wallace D. Wattles was an American author and a pioneer in the New Thought Movement. His most famous book is The Science of Getting Rich, which continues to be immensely popular today. The Science of Being Well is a follow-up to that book. Wattles approach to health is basically the same is his approach to prosperity. He suggests that the reader think and act in a "Certain Way," which he explains, and that thinking and acting in that way, along with a positive approach will "make it so." Wallace explains his fairly simple keys to getting well and suggests that with faith and discipline one can stay well once health has been achieved. To quote the author, this book is, “For those who want health, and who want a practical guide and handbook, not a philosophical treatise. It is an instructor in the use of the universal Principle of Life, and my effort has been to explain the way in so plain and simple a fashion that the reader, though he may have given no previous study to New Thought or metaphysics, may readily follow it to perfect health.”

Although written in 1893, Murray's words remain as fresh and relevant as if they were written yesterday. They still hold a message for the troubled souls of today. Murray's preaching is simple yet profound. Understanding Jesus Himself can bring us closer to understanding God, Our Father.

Ben-Hur could be said to be the first American blockbuster. When it was published in 1880, it sold over two-million copies and was translated into numerous languages. Wallace's original novel has been largely forgotten now, but as this reading shows, the story, together with the sweeping rhythm of the writer's prose, make it ideally suited to audio.
