A Parker Mystery

In The Aikido Caper Sensei Parker faces a mysterious challenge when someone decides that the classic movie Above the Fray will not be re-made. The Aikido-Ka is the second book in The Parker Mystery Series featuring Aikido Sensei Parker, a sometimes Private Eye. Parker's old friend Derek Gunner comes to Parker with a request to find the long lost son of his former army Captain who is dying. Barely excaping that meeting with his life Parker figures his job is done, only to find that instead of going back home and teaching aikido he now has to head to the Chicago suburbs and get the young man out of big time trouble.

Parker tries to help an old family friend and is caught up in a deadly mix of terror and kidnapping. Opie Taylor returns to help Parker and brings along a new friend, a young, Puerto Rican, mixed martial art master named Gabriel Condore. Along with the old friend, Parker, Taylor and Gabe battle a suspected drug cartel from Miami trying to free the beautiful kidnap victim. All this takes place in the teeth of an on-rushing hurricane that is determined to rip Florida from the map.

In this fourth novel, The Aikido Sensei, we meet Parker's old Aikido Sensei, a man of charm, humor and gusto. But a man who has also quit teaching Aikido. In a bid to rediscover himself and spend the rest of his life living in grace and simplicity he moves to a small town in Maine. Aikido Au Revoir is the fifth novel of the Aikido Mystery Series with Sensei Parker. He is in France on the Cote d'Azur teaching a pair of aikido seminars. It's tough work, but someone has to do it, right? Why not Parker? He is a master of the art, after all, and although he has his own school back in Orlando, Florida, it isn't doing as well as it was before the economy tanked. He is taking a break from his day job with this trip to France. He has had to resort to being a Private Detective to make ends meet, and this is going to be a vacation as well as a teaching job. Or is it?

Sensei Parker finds himself in Key West with his childhood friends, Willy and Sandra. They called for help and, of course, Parker came. Something is wrong in paradise, and they need their friend's help before it's too late. Synchronicity rears its quirky head as Opie Taylor hunts down their long-time nemesis, Luiz Crusado, and wants Parker to come help capture him. It just so happens that he's also in Key West.

Aikido Sensei Parker, a sometimes private investigator, finds himself in Maine on a bird hunting vacation with an old friend. Only, it turns out the invitation holds ulterior motives: Harry Andersen has a friend who is missing. Parker is asked to look into it, and the chase is on. Missing redheads driving hot cars, mountains of dope stacked in bales, and the most intriguing, expensive mushroom, chaga, push every mushroom pirate in New England on a desperate search to find a mother lode.

The local newspaper called him the Aikido Killer, but he was just a tired old man who had fought back. Sure, he was an Aikido teacher, but so what? He had been unarmed and the three attackers had all carried knives. Why was he in jail for murder? Why? Parker wants to know. Somehow, the District Attorney had found out about Gunner's war record and figured, with a half century of martial art training, he should have been able to defend himself and not killed that poor, innocent boy. Parker doesn't think so and sets out to prove it.

Parker is thinking about the rest of his life and contemplating marriage, when a dark-haired gypsy shows up at his door, insisting on learning the esoteric art of Aikido. She is an odd one, but comes in with a fist full of money and swaying hips. Parker isn't hooked, but can't keep his eyes off her.
