I knew the second I'd arrived back in Portland he'd know I was here within days, so it wasn't a shock to me that he came knocking on my door, literally. Kaden was my first love, but he isn't the same man anymore. These days he goes by another name, Kinetic, one he was given when he went overseas. Now he's in a biker club and living a totally different life. I came back here to take care of my elderly mother, but I didn't come alone.

Over my entire life, I always saw my fair share of action. I saw more of it than most between my time serving in the United States Marines, and being the Prez of the Deathstalkers MC. A good friend came to me and let me know Hermione was missing. Hermione, the owner of the local coffee shop, who I'd been friends with for years. I had a member of my club look into Hermione's electronic footprint, and I retraced every step. I knew I'd find her, because I didn't have another option. Lo and behold, I find her in the last place I expected her to be—in my enemy's clutches.

So much had happened with the club and the people my brothers' loved. I thought we were for sure going to be getting a break from the chaos for once. After being in the military, I thought we deserved a break. Just like always, life didn’t believe we earned one. Hawk's sister showed up at the clubhouse one day out of the blue. I remember the look of pure exhaustion weighing over her soft features. She confessed that she was stuck between a rock and a hard place. She was essentially homeless with no place to go.
