Manor House Mystery

An anxious mother begs Lady Elizabeth to find her missing daughter, and she finds it impossible to refuse. Her tenants are her children, and she'll do anything to keep them safe and happy. When she discovers the daughter's bicycle abandoned on the cliffs, and then the young woman's body washed up on the beach, Lady Elizabeth is faced with far more problems than she anticipated.

When a German pilot bails out into the town square, members of the Housewives League are more intent on salvaging the parachute than capturing the enemy. The pilot escapes, and shortly after, the body of a Land Army girl is discovered. Blame falls on the missing pilot, but Lady Elizabeth believes otherwise and sets out to prove it. Meanwhile, her forbidden attraction to the charming American major, and her attempts to placate the hostility between the Yanks and the Brits, complicate her already challenging life.

Lady Elizabeth is horrified when the body of an American airman is found hanging from a bell rope in the church tower. As always, our intrepid sleuth is hot on the trail, but a missed clue and a formidable killer may very well cost her life.

Having donated a parcel of her land for a village Victory Garden, Lady Elizabeth feels obliged to send her assistant, Polly, to tend to a plot now that its owner has passed away. Polly is happily digging in the dirt when she discovers a dead body buried there. Once more Lady Elizabeth faces a ruthless killer, putting her life in grave danger.

The constables declare it a suicide, but Elizabeth has her own ideas about that.
