Sea Stories of a U. S. Marine

This first audiobook of sea stories encompasses the brutal experiences of Marine Corps Boot Camp, the exotic ports of call in Asia, combat in Viet Nam, and the rigors of Marine Officer Candidate School. This second book of Sea Stories continues to follow the journey of a young Midwesterner, now Marine Lieutenant, through the rigors of Naval Flight School in Pensacola, Fatherhood, and Combat as a Helicopter Pilot in Vietnam. It also provides an interesting look at his fellow pilots and crewmen, as they fight their war from under a helicopter rotorhead.

Book three of the Sea Stories takes listeners to entirely new dimensions of adventures in "Foreign Lands". We find our young Marine captain and family totally immersed in "British Society" during a two-year assignment as an exchange officer with the Royal Navy and Royal Marines. What they experience is professionally broadening and personally enriching while they are "On Her Majesty's Service".

Book four of Sea Stories of a U.S. Marine relates a historic period in US Marine Corps Aviation, the first "off the shelf" procurement of a major weapons system from a foreign country and the introduction of the first operational V/STOL (vertical/short takeoff or landing) aircraft into the Untied States arsenal. The story is related through the eyes of our pilot and family from books one, two, and three. His writing style again puts the listener in the cockpit with him as he learns the intricacies of flying a V/STOL aircraft.

Book 5 is the final work in W.R. Spicer’s Sea Stories of a U.S. Marine series. It completes the story of a young Midwesterner's career in the marine corps, which culminates with command of a Harrier squadron, one of only three in the marine corps at that time.
