Jake Nilsen has the misfortune of performing at Popcorn Comedy Club this weekend. It’s not the crowd, the lineup, or the snacks in the green room that have him in a foul mood; it’s her. Alyssa Duport is tall, athletic, blonde, and it seems as though she’s made it her mission to give him a hard time. Every time he turns around, she has a snide remark or a teasing comment to throw his way. While she drives him absolutely bonkers, Jake isn’t blind: she’s gorgeous and just his type.

Carrie Caine is stressed. Not only is she the new graduate student advisor to the student activities committee at Abraxus Tasker College, but she has some serious studying to do. It's not easy to balance teaching, advising, and attending committee meetings, but she's serious about her career. At ATC, you have to be. But now, she's tasked with handling the emcee of the college's comedy festival: a standup comic named Jake Nilsen. She's a buttoned-up professor—and certainly not a grown man's babysitter—but Jake is more than willing to help her relax.

Stand-up comedian Jake Nilsen spends a week in Minnesota for his ten-year high school reunion. When he bumps into an old crush, dance floor confessions quickly turn into a romp at his hotel. She encouraged him to pursue his dreams all those years ago, and he's more than eager to pay his debt. After the reunion, Jake finds himself seated next to a sexy artist on the flight to his next tour stop.
