Aanna Barard was born in England, where she still resides. After graduating with an honours degree as a mature student, she has worked as an art teacher and university tutor,. Aanna has always ridden from an early childhood and her degree further developed a passion in her for Classical Equitation. She says, "I was captivated by the flamboyant Baroque paintings of horses which seemed to have a mystical preternatural power" However, when she was in her early 30's she experienced a life changing accident. This led to 10 years of recuperation and a growing writing habit that would develop her ideas and interior world. During this time, she returned to riding, eventually buying a young Lusitano colt. This led to a transformative journey, which challenged the traditionally accepted views of horsemanship and the training of horses. This transcendent experience was to become the inspiration for her art, writing and meditative practice. Her writing, conveys a simple but profound message, that horses, with all of nature, are infused with non-conceptual intelligence, offering us a connection to wisdom, peace and freedom from suffering.
