Ben Rosario was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on January 13, 1980. He attended Saint Louis University High School where he was a standout on the track and cross country teams. He then went on to study and compete at Truman State University, earning All American honors in cross country. After graduating he joined the Hansons Brooks Distance Project, a professional running team in suburban Detroit. The youngest qualifier at the 2004 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, Rosario ran for the team until 2005 when he moved back to Saint Louis. In 2006 he co-founded Big River Running Company, a run-specialty store, in his hometown. By 2010, there were three Big River locations and the store had been recognized as one of the top 50 in the country. Rosario sold his half of the business in March of 2012 and moved to Flagstaff, Arizona. He and his wife Jen launched their own professional running team, Northern Arizona Elite, in January of 2014. They signed a long term deal with HOKA ONE ONE as the team's title sponsor in February of 2015. HOKA NAZ Elite is now widely considered one of the top distance running teams in the United States. Rosario serves as the team's head coach and writes and speaks about running on a regular basis via blog posts, podcasts, coaching clinics and more. Jim Linhares is a Missouri Track and Field and Cross Coach of the Year, a member of Missouri Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame and a frequent speaker on youth sports and the formation of young people. He coached many All State athletes and his Cross Country and Track teams at St. Louis University High School won four Missouri State titles and many regional and Invitational championships and during his 27-year career. Today he serves as an Assistant Principal for Mission at SLUH and continues the work of shaping educational programs and activities for young people that emphasize the importance pairing character development with the pursuit of excellence.
