I am the author of The Turn, a comedy-drama-redemption novel set in the world of amateur golf, a story that deals with family, loss, addiction, career crisis, relationships and other midlife misadventures. I am also the internationally bestselling author of six psychological horror novels, including The Birthing House, The Haunting of James Hastings (published in the U.S. as Killing Ghost), The People Next Door, The Fading, The Orphan, and Beneath the Lake. During the four years I spent working on The Turn, I played more than four hundred rounds of golf, lowered my handicap by fifteen strokes, made two aces in the span of thirty-three days, lost twenty pounds, and ended my thirty-year run with alcohol. I am a Colorado native who grew up in Boulder, moved to New York City, Los Angeles, Wisconsin, and back to Colorado.
