Connie Spittler's newest released book title is: TURKEY CREEK PRESERVE, A SACRED JOURNEY, a 200 page full color nature book about 900 acres of Nebraska land, the restoration of a natural wildlife habitat to the prairie of the 1700's. Spittler, at age 88 wrote this book with photo contributions from 5 Nebraska nature photographers and several UNO biology/botany professors, and TCP volunteers in bird banding, the blue bird trail, butterfly counts, bat study, and frog watch. Called by Doug Tallamy, "an uncommonly beautiful book in its writing, a reverence for the natural world and visual records of wildlife to give you hope and many smiles," Another review: "this book embodies a single place, at this moment in time, with a level of detail and authenticity seldom attempted." THE EROTICA BOOK CLUB FOR NICE LADIES, my mystery/women's fiction won a Eudora Welty Fiction award, with recognition from the Chanticleer Mystery and Mayhem competition & Wishing Shelf Book Clubs in Great Britain and Sweden. My story involves 3 women in a book club entangled in the theft of an ancient book of herbal cures. Featured at the San Francisco American Library Conference, I next appeared on a Story Circle Network panel with Susan Wittig Albert and Deborah Winegarten, signed at Book Woman, one of the few remaining feminist bookstores and The Tattered Cover in Denver. Another quirky novel POWERBALL 33, the story of a young poet/handyman who wins the lottery, and LINCOLN & THE GETTYSBURG ADDRESS, a creative non-fiction are still available. You'll find my work in over 25 anthologies, like "The Art of Living", where my essay shares pages with The Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu, and Deepak Chopra. "Inside and Out, Women's Truths, Women's Stories," the most current anthology, and "What Wildness Is This", U of Texas Press, with Barbara Kingsolver, Terry Tempest Williams, and Susan Tweit also included.
