Craig Handley has never been afraid of clowns. He likes clowns. Craig will tell you that he is handsome, humble, and smart, and people generally agree that “Yes, he is a smart guy” and “No, winning second place in the beauty contest in Monopoly does not make you handsome.” He is an entrepreneur, which means so many things. He has done some speaking, some teaching, and mentoring. He is a philanthropist, having given away close to $1 million in the last seven years. He really views himself as an entertainer and musician who moonlights as CEO of his $13 million to $15 million company, ListenTrust, which was named #1 in Business Products and Services (#27 overall) on Inc. magazine’s 500/5000 list and employs over 1,000 really awesome people. He believes in “living life like an extreme sport.” As such, he has cage dived with great white sharks and rappelled down Table Mountain in South Africa, driven the Baja 500 trail in Mexico, hiked through the jungles of Malaysia, and in Iceland he snowmobiled across a live volcano, swam in the Blue Lagoon, and dove in the famed Silfra Fissure, which is the only dive site in the world where your dive is in the crack between two continental plates. He is the eighty-fifth civilian in the world ever to jump out of a plane from over 32,000 feet (HALO dive). He is bold. He pretended to be security in San Francisco to meet Richard Branson and wrapped a twenty-dollar bill around his business card during the meeting. He’s since been to Necker Island several times and has been kissed by the billionaire entrepreneur as a thank-you for the twenty dollars. He is a champion of all men, based on his undefeated record when donning the sumo suit in Richard’s famous Beach Olympics. He’s met Ringo Starr and bumped into Paul McCartney before security escorted him back to his table while trying to get a selfie; and in Calgary, he had a scarf blessed while meeting the Dalai Lama (which he has since misplaced). He has partied with Akon, Snoop Dogg, and many other celebrities who asked him for his autograph (because they thought he starred in Vikings or Game of Thrones and he did not correct their thinking). In over twenty years of doing business, he has learned that you cannot grow a business beyond your own personal growth. This mentality has caused him to invest in growth, to seek out mentors, and in general to search for growth opportunities as if he is a broken man in desperate need of fixing (which he very well may be). He served five years in the US Army Infantry during the first Iraq war, leaving with an honorable discharge. Handley studied voice and piano in college. He has written and produced hundreds of songs, from rap to pop to ballads to humorous parodies, and has even opened for Coolio and hosted the Adult Entertainment Awards. In 2010 he turned down a record deal because it would have been “a pay cut” from his profitable businesses—and the required tour schedule didn’t leave him enough time for his business or family. He has six kids (I know). Josh is the oldest and isn’t biologically his, but does that really matter? Drew, Zachary, Rebekah (who will tell you she is the favorite), Allyson (who will also tell you Rebekah is the favorite but secretly believes she is), and finally little Lilly Rosa, a late but welcome addition to the party. He and his business partner are the founders of ListenTrust, a global award-winning organization in the call center industry. With over two decades of experience, they have been recognized by Inc. magazine’s 500/5000 list and manage over a thousand employees in both the US and Mexico.
