The first book I remember my mom reading to me is the Lord of the Rings. She and my father read the entire series to us as children - it must have taken weeks to finish. My memory of it is fuzzy, but there are two things that stand out to me now. 1) The living room was dark. The only light that was on was the lamp my mom used to read with. 2) I cried when Boromir died. I love science fiction and fantasy, and while I immensely admire the work of JK Rowling, J.R.R. Tolkien is my favorite. Barely.
