David Vass spent decades behind the scenes of the entertainment industry, working as a technical
director, lighting designer, and road manager for more than two hundred performers, including over fifty
Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, Golden Globe, and Tony winning names. Alongside that career, he quietly
moved cash for the mob's ties to the record industry, a double life he'd kept mostly to himself until now.
Long before any of that, Vass came of age in Baltimore in the 1950s, and by his teens and twenties was
present for the earliest organizing of the modern gay liberation movement, work he continues to draw
on as a writer and activist today.
Even earlier than that, he worked lighting and sound as a high school student for the strip clubs of
Baltimore's legendary ‘The Block,’ watching firsthand as a fading generation of classic burlesque
dancers gave way to a new era more about show-all shock value than artistry.
He is the creator of the one man show “What Could Go Wrong,” a multiple time Fringe Festival winner
for Best Solo Male Performance, and a member of the Authors Guild and the Dramatists Guild. He has
been with his husband and partner, Paul, for over four decades. Liar, Alleged is his first book.
