Elaine Del Valle is an award-winning filmmaker. She began her career in storytelling as an actress. Her early successes were in the on-camera commercial and animation voice-over worlds. It was while studying professional acting at Carnegie Hall, under the legendary acting teacher, Wynn Handman, that Elaine began writing what would become her critically acclaimed, autobiographical stage play, Brownsville Bred. The stage play brought her to multiple wins on the stage festival circuit before she began to self-produce at New York City’s legendary Nuyorican Poets Cafe. Brownsville Bred became the most successful play in the venue’s 34 year history. Director, (and Artistic Director at the Schoolhouse Theater) Pamela Moller-Kareman attended Elaine’s performance. Ms. Kareman became Elaine’s director and would soon lead her on a journey that would include Elaine’s (Brownsville Bred) first official off-Broadway run. The New York Times called the play "From Girlhood Trials to Onstage Triumph.” Elaine performed Brownsville Bred at colleges, high schools and for corporate events that would include The Multicultural Media Forum where HBO’s Lucinda Martinez would discover Elaine’s voice and inspire her to continue on the path of writing, but with the added element of making her content more accessible. Elaine went on to create and write her first web series, Reasons Y I’m Single (alongside long time friend and colleague Holie Barker), which Elaine also produced and directed. Elaine continued producing her own work and was inspired to share her tools to support the work of other diverse talents struggling to make their voices heard. With her second web series, alongside Director William D. Caballero, Elaine became the first person to ever license an interstitial series to the HBO Network (Gran’pa Knows Best). As a director, Elaine has garnered several awards on the festival circuit, including for Best Director and Best Film. Her short film, ME 3.769 was supported by a grant from the Sundance Institute and went on to be licensed and premiere on the HBO network (2019). Elaine was named “Madrina” (Godmother) at the Prime Latino Media Salon, “Emerging Artist” at the Multicultural Media Forum and in 2019 she received the Vanguard award from Official Latino. In 2019 Miami New Times named Elaine amongst their “Five Filmmakers to Watch.” Elaine was featured as an inspirational figure in Beating The Odds (a PBS documentary) alongside such luminaries as Michelle Obama.
