Elise Holland is the author of the award-winning, middle-grade novel, The Thorn Queen. Born in Surrey, England, she moved to Michigan when she was thirteen, where she attended high school and college. It was this icy arrival during Detroit’s “worst snowstorm in many years” that planted the seed for the glacial world of Glendoch in which The Thorn Queen takes place. Elise currently lives in the redwoods of Marin County with her husband, daughter and cat. When she’s not working on the sequel to The Thorn Queen, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, studying psychology, hiking, reading and recruiting. In addition to writing children’s fantasy, she loves coaching young writers through her school visits and website.
