Gemma Lienas (Barcelona, 1951) is a writer and an Op-Ed in El País newspaper. Titles that have appeared under her name: For adults, the novels: Atrapada en el espejo, El final del juego (Catalan Art Award Ramon Llull 2003), Anoche soñé contigo , Vol Nocturn (Premio Andròmina de narrativa 1987); article books Rebeldes, ni putas ni sumisas and Pornografía y vestidos de novia, as well as the collection of articles Quiero ser puta; contra la regulación del comercio sexual. Moreover she received the first prize on “Participando creamos espacios de Igualdad” (participating we create space for equality) in the category Art and Culture 2008, awarded by the Council of Women of the city of Madrid for her whole work. Her work has been translated to German, Brazilian, Slovakian, French, Galician, Italian, Portuguese, Serbo-Croatian and Basque. She also gives lectures on women-related subjects, education and literature, collaborating as a columnist for a Catalan newspaper, and also in the radio program “Els Matins de Catalunya Ràdio” and the TV program “8 al dia”. For the last 10 years she has worked with several media, press and radio. For about 15 years, she has been head of the publishers department in several publishing companies, and before that, for 12 years, she’s been also a language and literature professor and has taught in postgraduate courses on publishing techniques and narrative structures at the University of Barcelona.
