Gregg Oppenheimer, son of "I Love Lucy" creator Jess Oppenheimer, got his start in comedy at the age of four, when his father introduced him to Lucille Ball on the set of "I Love Lucy". Kneeling down, a smiling Lucy asked Gregg, "Where did you get those big brown eyes?" Gregg’s deadpan reply: "They came with the face." Lucy nearly fell over laughing. He left a successful law career to complete his late father's memoir, "Laughs, Luck...and Lucy: How I Came to Create the Most Popular Sitcom of All Time" (Syr. Univ. Press, 1996). Gregg produced the award-winning I Love Lucy DVD Series for CBS and Paramount. He appeared in Amy Poehler’s Emmy Award-winning 2022 documentary, "Lucy and Desi, " and has been interviewed about "I Love Lucy" on the CBS News, 20/20, Entertainment Tonight, CNN, MSNBC, The History Channel, and NHK (Japan). Gregg’s comedy play, “I Love Lucy: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Sitcom,” premiered in 2018 in Los Angeles, playing to sold-out houses and airing on public radio. A full-cast recording, starring Sarah Drew (“Grey’s Anatomy”) as Lucy, Oscar Nuñez (“The Office”) as Desi, and Seamus Dever (“Castle”) as Jess Oppenheimer, is available from Amazon and Audible. L.A. Theatre Works recently completed a successful 21-city U.S. national tour. The play will be published in Nov. 2023 by Next Stage Press (nextstagepress.com) as "LUCY LOVES DESI." A member of ASCAP and The Dramatists Guild, Gregg lives in Santa Monica with his wife, Debbie. Follow Gregg’s latest creative projects on Facebook and his YouTube Channel. Links at Lucynet.com
