Meet Hartley Goldstone. Hartley’s clients include institutional and individual trustees, family offices, and beneficiaries in all stages of life. He offers them field-tested approaches and tools to identify―and then achieve―positive possibilities. His mission: to help clients build trustscapes that spotlight the best within individuals and among families for the greatest good. Following 25 years as attorney, senior trust officer, and advisor to clients of a multifamily office, Hartley left the institutional trust world to found his firm Trustscape LLC in 2009. In 2014, he became associated with Wise Counsel Research, a nonprofit think-tank and boutique consultancy focused on matters of wealth and philanthropy. Hartley launched the Beneficiary and Trustee Positive Story Project in 2010 to collect stories told by beneficiaries and trustees that reflect compassion and wisdom in the midst of complexity. Two years later, he co-authored TrustWorthy, a collection of 25 of the real-life stories. In 2013, the Positive Story Project became the theme of his online column for the journal Trusts & Estates. And, most recently, Hartley co-authored Family Trusts: A Guide for Beneficiaries, Trustees, Trust Protectors, and Trust Creators (Bloomberg Press 2015). Hartley has presented at conferences of the Family Office Exchange, the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, the Institute for Private Investors, the American Bankers Association National Trust School, the American Bankers Association Trust Management Association, the Purposeful Planning Institute, and many others. He hosts similar programs in smaller, more intimate settings such as family gatherings or staff training. Hartley received his B.A. degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and MBA and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of Denver.
