At age 88, Hazel tells audiences, "Everything works and nothing hurts!" Hazel Ramsbotham was born on April Fools Day, April 1, 1930. At age 6, her first place of employment was picking cotton in the heat of the Texas sun to help support her family. At that same age, she was learning song melodies at school and playing them by ear at home on the piano without any formal training. By age 10, she was teaching others how to play piano for 25 cents per lesson and left the cotton fields forever. Hazel eventually got married, had five children, and taught piano for a total of 74 years. Along the way, she received her Master or Music Performance degree from the University of Idaho and various awards including National Teacher's Association Fellow of the Year and Colorado Music Teacher of the Year. Hazel only recently retired from teaching in 2015 (at age 85) to pursue a new career as a health coach and author, but maintains her status as a nationally certified piano instructor.
