I.R. Vasquez was born and raised in Miami, where he lives today. An avid traveler, Vasquez has explored extensively in the United States, so far picking Virginia as his favorite, and has also been to Romania and Mexico. Vasquez never set out to be a writer, but he had a love of storytelling in his blood for as long as he could remember. He crafted an extensive plot in his mind for thirteen years until one day, a friend heard him describing it and asked what movie he was talking about. When he explained it was a story he developed on his own, he was told he had to write it down. Vasquez blames that friend for turning him into a writer, but instead of being upset about it, he asked her out. Before that final nudge over the edge into writer-hood, Vasquez was inspired by a teacher who began a conversation about superheroes, eventually wondering idly why there were no Christian superheroes. Though a variety of experiences and aspects helped bring his story to life, like his father’s time in the army, and a daydream or two, this idea was the one that sparked the flame for Vasquez. He has finished his debut novel for a young adult audience. Plans are in the works for many more in the same series, including prequels and spin-offs of the original works.
