As the Director of Retail Learning and Development for Independent Financial, a publicly traded financial institution based in McKinney, Texas, she has influenced how leaders and employees learn and execute their jobs effectively. Janel is a Certified Financial Advisor and a Certified Instructional Designer and Facilitator. She received her formal education from the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she initially started as a Journalism major before transitioning to the School of Business. Her exposure to successful female bankers while working as a Teller inspired her to switch majors. Despite not pursuing Journalism as a career, Janel has maintained her passion for writing. She has written several corporate training workbooks and customer service manuals, has contributed to collaborative book projects, and is currently working on an independent project, Are You a Pig or a Goat? In 2017, she launched Janel Barksdale Enterprises, a training firm specializing in designing and presenting custom content for companies that excite, empower, and encourage teams to be their best. She understands that maximizing the customer experience through effective leadership is crucial to any company's success and is committed to helping companies achieve that goal through her expertise and experience. Janel is an engaging facilitator whose contributions to the field of learning and development are both inspiring and invaluable.
